How buying on Tafric works
Start from a category, open the products that match your specification, and contact the supplier through the listing. If nothing in the catalogue fits, open a buying request instead: describe the product, quantity and destination port, and let verified Turkish suppliers come to you with offers. Opening a request and receiving offers costs the buyer nothing.
Delivery terms and shipping routes
Most offers are quoted CFR to your port, with FOB Mersin or FOB İstanbul as the alternative when you arrange freight yourself. Container services run from Mersin and Ambarlı to Apapa, Tema, Dakar, Abidjan, Mombasa and Algiers. Ask for transit time and whether the price includes inland haulage to the Turkish port, since that line is often left out.
Payment methods and how to secure them
Letters of credit are the usual instrument on first orders: an L/C at sight releases payment against shipping documents, so the money moves when the goods do. Documentary collection (CAD) is lighter and cheaper but gives less protection. Advance payment of 30 percent with the balance against documents is common once both sides have shipped together before.
Documents your customs office will ask for
Every shipment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and certificate of origin. Türkiye issues ATR or EUR.1 movement certificates where a trade agreement applies. Conformity programmes differ by market: SONCAP for Nigeria, G-CAP for Ghana, and COC schemes run by SGS, Bureau Veritas, COTECNA or Intertek elsewhere. Halal and CE documents apply by product type.
What verification means on Tafric
A verified badge on Tafric describes checks that were actually run. We look at the firm's tax and trade registry record, confirm the contact details reach the company, and review the documents it uploads, including export certificates where the product needs them. Verification tells you the counterparty exists and is reachable. It does not replace your own inspection or payment terms.
Frequently asked questions
Pick the product, agree the specification and quantity with a verified supplier, then settle incoterm, payment and documents in writing before production starts. Most buyers work CFR to their port with an L/C at sight or 30 percent advance. Your customs broker confirms which conformity certificate your market requires.
