Sourcing Turkish white goods & home appliances
Türkiye manufactures refrigerators and freezers, washing machines, cookers and ovens, heating and cooling units, small kitchen appliances, houseware and consumer electronics, with spare-part supply behind them. Browse export-ready products, compare verified suppliers, and request a CFR quote covering plug type, input voltage range, units per container and the certificate your customs requires.
Sourcing home appliances from Türkiye: a buyer's guide
Check the electrical fit first
Turkish appliances are built for 220-240V at 50Hz, so they suit most African grids without a transformer. Ask for the tolerated input range in writing, because a unit rated only 220-240V can trip or fail where the line sags. Where supply is unstable, budget for a stabiliser per unit and tell your supplier.
Refrigerant, energy label and climate class
Cooling products now use R600a, a hydrocarbon refrigerant with a small charge, which affects both transport paperwork and local servicing skills. Read the energy label together with the climate class: an appliance rated for temperate use will run longer and consume more in a hot kitchen. Ask for T-class models where the range allows.
Plan the certificate before the goods move
Pre-shipment conformity is the usual cause of demurrage in this category. If your customs applies SONCAP, G-CAP or a COC regime, the certificate has to be issued at origin while the goods are still in Türkiye. Name the scheme in your enquiry and confirm the supplier has already worked with the inspection body.
Compare cost per unit landed
A tall carton fills volume before it reaches the weight limit, so container utilisation moves your unit cost more than a small price gap does. Ask each supplier for units per 40ft high cube, carton dimensions and gross weight, then rebuild the comparison as cost per unit at your port including freight and the certificate fee.
Spare parts and after-sales
Resale depends on what happens after a warranty claim. Agree a spare-parts list with the first container, covering thermostats, seals, control boards and the parts your technicians replace most often. Check that the same model stays in production so replacement parts keep matching, and clarify what the supplier covers and for how long.
