Tafric request data as of November 3, 2026
What does Nigeria import from Türkiye? On Tafric, the clearest answer comes from what Nigerian buyers actually ask for. In October 2026, buyers in Nigeria posted 436 sourcing requests on Tafric (165 in September), more than any other African country and close to one in five of the 2,350 African requests that month. The three largest groups were clothing (73 requests), heating, cooling and ventilation, almost all of it cooling systems and cold rooms (67), and furniture (56), followed closely by medical and healthcare products (55).
This guide breaks those numbers down: which products Nigerian importers request, which Turkish product groups fit the market, the import rules to check first and how to reach Turkish manufacturers. Tafric's data starts in August 2026, so read the figures as a recent snapshot of demand, not a long-term trend. For all 35 countries, see our October 2026 Africa buyer demand report.

What buyers in Nigeria are asking for
**Clothing.** The largest group in October. Buyers asked for women's clothing and matching tracksuit sets, men's wear, jeans, T-shirts and leather belts, and workwear such as coveralls. Modest clothing was a strong subgroup in its own right (29 requests): abayas, long dresses and hijabs for shops and boutiques. Children's wear sits in a separate category: baby clothes, baby dresses and blankets (10 requests). See our guides to wholesale abayas and hijabs and baby and kids clothes.
**Cooling systems and cold rooms.** 63 of the 67 heating, cooling and ventilation requests were for cooling systems. Cold rooms came up again and again: walk-in cold rooms for frozen food, mini cold rooms and blast freezers. Read buying a cold room from Turkey and, for comfort cooling, air conditioners from Turkey.
**Furniture.** 50 of the 56 furniture requests were for home furniture: sitting room and contemporary sofa sets, bedroom sets and home office furniture. Furniture also drew the most product messages from Nigeria (40 of 71). Before ordering, read the import rules below: most furniture is on Nigeria's import prohibition list.
**Medical, healthcare and laboratory.** 55 requests: medical supplies and consumables, supplies for mother and child health, patient monitors and biomedical equipment, and laboratory reagents such as ELISA kits (laboratory materials and equipment, 18 requests). See hospital beds and medical equipment and laboratory equipment and reagents.
**Machinery, food and packaging.** Machinery requests (39) were led by food processing machines (22): drying machines, food dehydrators and lines for people starting food production. Plastic products (16) and labels and stickers (10) point to the same small manufacturers who need packaging. See food processing machines and PET bottles, preforms and jerrycans. Cosmetics buyers asked for skincare and face wash, and retailers for nylon and tote bags.

Which Turkish products fit this market
Nigerian demand on Tafric lines up with what Türkiye makes in volume. Türkiye is a manufacturing country, not a re-export hub, so you usually deal with the factory itself. Many Turkish producers already supply European customers, which means European-type standards and certificates are familiar to them.
- **Ready-made clothing and modest wear:** Turkish garment makers are used to mixed orders by size and colour and to private label, which suits boutiques and growing wholesalers. Minimum quantities are often more flexible than at very large factories; agree them before production. - **Cold rooms and refrigeration:** Turkish manufacturers build panels, doors and refrigeration units and can size a cold room to your product and temperature. Ask about tropical-climate components and voltage. - **Medical consumables and equipment:** a broad range from consumables to hospital furniture. Ask for the certificates your regulator requires before you order. - **Food processing and packaging machines:** machines for small and medium lines, plus plastic packaging, which helps local producers start at a realistic scale.

Import rules and logistics in brief
Nigeria has kept most furniture (HS headings 9401 and 9403, with exceptions for certain parts and specialised items) on its import prohibition list for years. The list also includes products such as pasta and refined vegetable oil, and it changes from time to time. Confirm the current list and your HS code with your clearing agent before you pay a deposit.
For permitted goods, the usual sequence is a Form M through your bank, a SONCAP certificate for regulated products, and NAFDAC registration where food, cosmetics or medical products are involved. Most containers from Türkiye arrive at the Lagos ports of Apapa or Tin Can Island; sea transit is roughly 2–4 weeks port to port depending on the service and transshipment (direct sailings at the shorter end); ask your forwarder.
