Tafric request data as of October 27, 2026
Boutique owners and wholesalers across Africa search Google for 'abaya supplier turkey', 'wholesale hijab from turkey' and 'abaya price in nigeria'. This guide answers those questions for buyers who want to source modest wear directly from Turkish manufacturers.
Short answer
Turkish abayas, hijabs, khimars and modest dresses are made in Istanbul (Fatih, Merter, Laleli, Osmanbey), Bursa and Konya and sold wholesale, usually by the 'series': one piece in each size. First orders from Africa are often 10 to 50 pieces per model in mixed sizes, shipped by air or LCL. You can post a free request on Tafric and let Turkish manufacturers contact you.
Turkey, Dubai, Egypt or China?
Buyers in Nigeria and Senegal compare the same origins. Dubai is a major trading hub with a large abaya market, Egyptian abayas and hijabs are well known in Nigeria, and China is often the cheapest. Turkey's strength is that you buy where the garment is made: manufacturers who choose the fabric, cut and finish can adapt sizes, colours and embroidery and ship to West Africa in a few weeks by sea. Compare the same fabric and finish, not just the price tag. For checking that a supplier is a real manufacturer, see our guide on finding and verifying Turkish manufacturers.
Popular styles and fabrics
Abayas come in one or two pieces, with an integrated or matching scarf, as everyday or embroidered 'luxury' models, and as prayer abayas. Hijabs are made in premium jersey, Medina silk, chiffon or bamboo jersey; khimars and jilbabs in one or two pieces; plus long dresses, tunics and modest sets. Nida and crêpe are the classic Turkish abaya fabrics. Ask whether the scarf is included and for the length chart (for example 56 to 62); large sizes and children's abayas are also produced.
What drives the price
The price of an abaya depends on the fabric (nida, crêpe, linen, silk blends), embroidery and stones, whether a scarf is included, and the quantity. Turkish wholesalers usually give a price per piece but sell by the series, so check how many pieces a series holds. To compare suppliers fairly, ask each one for the same information:
| Ask every supplier for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Price per piece (USD) | The basis for comparison |
| Pieces per series and sizes | Your real minimum per model |
| Fabric name and weight | Explains most price differences |
| Price to your port (CFR) or by air | Your landed cost before duty |
| Lead time and ship date | Decides whether you make the season |
How to import abayas from Turkey, step by step
1) Post a request with styles, fabric, sizes, colours and quantity per model, plus photos. 2) Compare the suppliers who contact you on the same basis. 3) Ask for photos or a video of the actual pieces, or a sample by courier. 4) Agree the payment terms in writing; a deposit with the balance before shipping is common. 5) Choose air for a small test order and LCL by sea once quantities grow. 6) Your customs broker clears the goods with the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin.
Shipping, customs and timing
Count the sea leg on top of production: roughly 9-14 days to Dakar or Abidjan and 16-20 days to Lagos, plus clearance. Air is faster but costs more per kilo. Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire usually require an electronic cargo tracking note (BSC) for sea shipments, and Nigeria's import prohibition list covers some textile products, so ask your broker before you pay. Our guides on West African ports, pre-shipment inspection and importing from Türkiye to Nigeria go into detail.
Demand rises before Ramadan and the two Eids (Sallah in Nigeria, Korité and Tabaski in Senegal), so order early enough to have time to sell.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy abayas wholesale in Turkey?
The main wholesale districts are Fatih, Merter, Laleli and Osmanbey in Istanbul, with more producers in Bursa and Konya. You don't need to travel: post a free request on Tafric and Turkish manufacturers contact you with photos and prices.
Is a Turkish abaya better than a Dubai abaya?
Neither is better by label alone. Compare the fabric, finishing and price for the same style. Buying from a Turkish manufacturer means dealing directly with the workshop that makes the garment, which can change sizes, colours or embroidery for you.
Is there a minimum order for Turkish abayas?
Wholesalers usually sell by the series (one piece per size), and some accept a single series per model. Buyers on Tafric often start with about 10 to 50 pieces per model in mixed sizes.
Should I ship a small order by air or by sea?
Air is faster and suits a first test order of a few dozen pieces, but costs more per kilo. Sea LCL (groupage) is cheaper per piece but slower, and makes sense once quantities grow. Ask the supplier for both prices.
Which documents do I need to import abayas?
The supplier provides the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. Depending on your country you may also need a cargo tracking note (BSC) or other pre-shipment documents; your customs broker confirms them before shipping.
