Tafric request data as of October 30, 2026
To buy goods from Turkey without travelling, describe what you need once (the product, the quantity and your country) and let Turkish manufacturers come to you. On Tafric, posting a buying request is free and has no limit. Manufacturers who make that product see your request and contact you, so you compare offers from home and only visit the factories you have already chosen.
How to buy goods from Turkey: the main routes
Importers in Lagos, Accra, Nairobi or Kampala who search 'how to buy goods from Turkey' or 'how to order from Turkey' choose between four routes. The first is the classic trip: a flight to Istanbul and several days visiting showrooms and factories. The second is a buying agent or middleman who already knows suppliers and places the order for you. The third is a WhatsApp group, an Instagram page or a directory that lists Turkish companies. The fourth is a request-based platform: you post one detailed request and the manufacturers who make that product reach out to you.
Each route can work. What changes is how much you spend before you see a single serious offer, and how much of the comparison work stays on your side.
| Route | What you spend first | What you get | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trip to Istanbul, factory to factory | Flight, visa, hotel, days away from your shop | Face-to-face meetings, real samples | You only see the companies you managed to visit |
| Buying agent or middleman | A commission, not always shown in the price | Someone on the ground who places the order | You may not know which factory makes your goods |
| WhatsApp groups and directories | Time spent contacting companies one by one | Many names, fast | Hard to tell a factory from a reseller |
| Free request on Tafric | A few minutes to describe your need | Manufacturers of that product contact you | You still need to check the supplier before paying |
Why going from factory to factory is slow and costly
The factory tour feels safe because you see everything with your own eyes. In practice, the costs start long before the first meeting: the visa, the ticket, the hotel and the days your business runs without you. Production is spread across Türkiye, so the showroom you visit in Istanbul may sell goods made in another city. In a few days you can only meet a handful of companies, and you can come home with business cards and catalogues but no comparable prices.
A middleman removes the travel, but adds a margin you may not see and a layer between you and the workshop. If a colour, size or finish is wrong, the person who can correct it is the manufacturer, not the agent. Working with an agent is fine when the commission is clear; the problem is the one who presents himself as the factory.
How to compare offers from Turkish manufacturers
Offers only become comparable when every supplier answers the same questions. Send each one the same specification (product, model or reference photo, quantity, packaging, destination port) and ask for these points in writing:
1) Unit price and currency, usually in US dollars or euros. 2) Minimum order quantity (MOQ) per model, colour or size. 3) The delivery term: an EXW or FOB price stops in Türkiye, while a CFR or CIF price includes sea freight to your port, such as Apapa, Tema or Mombasa. Compare like with like. 4) Lead time: production time plus the sailing time, and the date the goods can leave the factory. 5) Samples: whether a sample is possible, its cost and courier time. 6) Payment terms: deposit and balance, or a letter of credit for larger orders.
A low unit price with a high MOQ or an EXW term can cost you more than a slightly higher CFR price. Put the offers side by side in one sheet and add your own costs (duty, clearing, transport inland) to see the real landed cost. Our guides on container freight from Türkiye and import duty in Nigeria help with that last step.
Check the supplier before you pay
Buying from home does not mean buying blind. Ask for the company's exact legal name, a live video call that shows the production line during Turkish working hours, and photos or a video of your actual goods before shipping. The bank account must be in the company's own name; a change of bank details in the middle of an order is a reason to stop and call the supplier on a number you already have. For a full checklist, read how to find and verify Turkish manufacturers.
Depending on your country, extra documents sit on top of the commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin, for example Form M and SONCAP in Nigeria or a Certificate of Conformity under Kenya's PVoC programme. Ask your clearing agent to confirm the list before you pay; our guides on importing from Türkiye to Nigeria and to Kenya go into detail.
When a trip to Türkiye still makes sense
For a large first order, a machine or a long-term private-label programme, meeting the supplier in person can be worth it. The difference is the order of events. When you collect offers first, you exchange photos, catalogues and certificates from home, and you travel only to meet the right companies, the ones you have already chosen. One focused trip replaces several days of cold visits.
How to post a free request on Tafric, step by step
1) Go to post a request and choose the category of your product. 2) Describe what you need in plain words: product name, model or size, material, colour and packaging; add a reference photo if you have one. 3) Give the quantity and the unit (pieces, cartons, containers, tonnes). 4) Enter your country and, if you know it, the port or city of delivery and when you need the goods. 5) Submit. Tafric checks the request before it goes live, then Turkish manufacturers in that category see it and contact you directly. 6) Compare the offers you receive with the checklist above, ask for samples and agree terms with the supplier you choose.
Posting is free and there is no limit, so you can open one request per product rather than mixing everything in one message.
Not sure yet what to order? Browse products from Turkish manufacturers to see models and contact suppliers directly, or post your free request and let the factories come to you.
Frequently asked questions
How can I buy goods from Turkey to Nigeria?
Agree the product, price and delivery term with a Turkish manufacturer, then ship by sea or air with a commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin. In Nigeria you also need Form M and the required pre-shipment documents; see our guide on importing from Türkiye to Nigeria and check with your clearing agent before you pay.
Is there a website or app to buy goods from Turkey?
Yes. On Tafric you can browse products from Turkish manufacturers or post a free buying request. Manufacturers who make that product see your request and contact you, so you can compare offers without travelling.
Do I need to travel to Turkey to buy wholesale?
No. You can collect and compare offers, samples, photos and certificates from home. A trip can still be useful for a large order, but it works best once you have a shortlist of suppliers to meet.
How do I find manufacturers in Turkey without an agent?
Post one detailed request describing the product, quantity and your country, and let manufacturers in that category contact you. Then check each company's legal name, ask for a live video of the production line and make sure the bank account is in the company's name.
What can I import from Turkey to Africa?
Turkish manufacturers supply clothing and textiles, furniture, building materials, processed food, machinery, cosmetics and much more. Before ordering, check your country's current import prohibition or restriction list with your customs broker.
Is posting a request on Tafric free?
Yes. Posting buying requests on Tafric is free and there is no limit on the number of requests. You only pay the supplier you choose for your goods.
