White goods & home appliance buying requests from Africa
African importers open buying requests for refrigerators and freezers, cookers and ovens, washing machines, heating and cooling units, small kitchen appliances, houseware and spare parts. This page collects verified requests and shows Turkish exporters what buyers specify: 220-240V 50Hz supply, plug type, tropical-class rating, R600a refrigerant, energy label and CFR delivery to African ports.

Exporting home appliances to Africa: what buyers expect
Voltage, frequency and plug type
Most of Africa runs on 220-240V at 50Hz, which matches Turkish production, so the usual mismatch shows up in the plug. Nigeria and Ghana use Type G, while Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Algeria use Type C/E/F. State the plug fitted, whether you can change it per order, and the cable length in your offer.
Grid swings and tropical-class design
Grid voltage swings widely in many markets, so buyers ask what input range the appliance tolerates and whether a stabiliser is needed alongside it. Ambient temperatures also sit above what European testing assumes, so a tropical-class (T) rating on refrigerators and freezers is a frequent condition. Say which models carry it and quote the tested ambient range.
CE plus the destination scheme
CE marking opens the file, then each market adds its own step. Nigeria requires SONCAP with a product certificate issued before shipment, Ghana runs G-CAP, and Algeria asks for a COC. These are issued against inspection or testing at origin, so add the certificate lead time to the delivery date you quote.
Container loading and packing
Quote units per 40ft high cube next to the unit price, because the buyer compares landed cost per unit and volume decides it. Give carton dimensions and gross weight, and say whether the model ships knocked down. Corner protection and edge reinforcement matter, since handling at destination ports is rough on tall cartons.
Spare parts, warranty and payment
A first order often includes a spare-parts kit: thermostats, door seals, compressors, control boards. Buyers ask how parts will be supplied afterwards and what the warranty covers where there is no local service network. On payment, an L/C at sight or a TT advance against documents is the common structure for a first container.
Frequently asked questions
220-240V at 50Hz covers most of Africa and matches Turkish production. The plug differs by country: Type G in Nigeria and Ghana, Type C/E/F in Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire and Algeria. Confirm the plug per order and state the input voltage range the appliance tolerates.
